Benefits of Grapefruit

The grapefruit is a summer fruit similar to the orange. The grapefruit is a citrus similar to a large orange. Although it is usually yellow, some varieties have reddish pulp and skin. The pulp is divided into 10-12 segments and has a very pleasant sour taste due to the presence of glucoside naringin.

The grapefruit arose due to the natural crossing of the sweet orange tree and pummelo around 1700. It is known as forbidden fruit in the Caribbean region.

In general, grapefruit consumption is much lower than the orange, the tangerine and lemon. However, this fruit is especially popular in Anglo-Saxon countries, where it is consumed directly with sugar or honey.
